A team of twenty-one actors, several technicians and two directors staged the three-act farce of the play “Un marido de ida y vuelta”. The theme of the love triangle is presented in an unusual situation, which generates different comic scenarios that nevertheless raise important questions, such as that of the second chance.
According to the author himself, Enrique Jardiel Poncela, in the prologue, the idea for this play came suddenly, after he was handling several others -and even deceiving his impresario, who was expecting a text in a few days- that he did not like. Much more striking is the fact that it was premiered in October 1939, just after the end of the civil war, as well as the opposite repercussions it had in the respective presses of Barcelona and Madrid.
Humorism and poetry -these are Jardiel’s words- fill a play that never loses its relevance. This Thursday a classic returned to the Municipal Theater, with the group of actors and collaborators of Ars Creatio, who also proposed “a Jardiel back and forth”.
