In the Municipal Theater we had a summer concert performed by the Torrevejense Musical Union entitled “Latin Night” conducted by Carlos Ramon Perez, conductor of the youth symphonic band and winner of the “7th European Conductors Competition”. In this concert we felt the love and passion of each composer of different nationalities.
The evening began with the American composer Clifton Williams with his Symphonic Dance Number 3 “Fiesta”, this dance is inspired by a remote village in Mexico, a party starts and out of nowhere a tolero enters and the bullfighting sounds. Then they played the “Arrullo Suite”, written by Colombian composer Victoriano Valencia, a work composed of 3 movements that recounts his childhood memories. The third piece of the evening we listened to the American composer Alfred Reed with his work “Caribbean Dance” which transported the audience to the beaches of the Caribbean. Following that piece we hear a symphonic dance composed by a Japanese composer Youse Fukuda, called “Tango”, is a very rhythmic piece to dance as its name suggests.
We move to Brazil with the Dutch composer Kess Vlak with his work “Os Pássaros do Brasil” is inspired by the forests of Brazil and tells the 3 stories of 3 different birds playing with folklore.
To end this magnificent summer concert we listened to the famous Danzón nº2 by Arturo Márquez that left the audience so amazed that they did not want the concert to end.
The band director, upon hearing the warm applause of his audience, returned the applause with two encores, the first by composer Yousuke Fukuda with the piece “Tango” and the second by Brazilian composer Zequinha Abreu with his work Tico Tico.
