In the coastal town of Lloret de Mar, Marina and Jorge—who were raised as siblings—are in love, yet both keep their feelings hidden. Jorge, now a brand-new ship’s captain, sets sail on a voyage. During his absence, Pascual, a rough-and-tumble shipwright, asks for Marina’s hand in marriage. She accepts, but wishes that Jorge—whom she considers her only family—would be the one to ask for her hand. Upon his return, Jorge reluctantly agrees. A letter from Marina’s father and Pascual’s jealousy complicate the situation.
