Synopsis: Prince Tamino is pursued by a giant serpent; he flees into the forest, but has unwittingly entered the realm of the Queen of the Night. There, he strikes a deal with the Queen to win her daughter’s hand in marriage in exchange for freeing her from the captivity in which Sarastro holds her. Tamino, accompanied by the bird-catcher Papageno, sets out to save his beloved; however, once he arrives in Sarastro’s kingdom, he realizes that reality is quite different and decides to stay there with his beloved, far from the Queen. To remain and become a member of the Temple of the Sages, he must pass a series of trials, which he successfully overcomes. Finally, the two lovers are united forever, while his wicked mother is defeated once and for all.

OPERA 2001 began its journey more than three decades ago with Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” a work that profoundly shaped our artistic identity.
Today, with the same emotion, it will also mark the end of our time as an opera producer. With “The Magic Flute,” we bring to a close an extraordinary cycle, made possible by the efforts of hundreds of professionals who have enabled us to grow, create, and share opera with thousands of audiences in Spain, France, and Portugal.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the theaters, festivals, and programmers who have walked alongside us for so many years. On this tour, we hope to reconnect with as many of the theaters we’ve collaborated with as possible. We invite all of them to acquire this final production—a revitalized *Magic Flute*, crafted with meticulous attention to detail and conceived to serve as a fitting finale to our journey.
Our hope is that this production will continue to live on in their theaters and in the memories of their audiences.

This production of *The Magic Flute* is pure fantasy. It is loosely inspired by the *Stargate* series, with a setting that blends ancient Egypt with science-fiction elements. The stage is filled with equally fantastical characters who, simply by crossing the magical threshold, travel through different eras—from ancient times with prehistoric monsters to the Middle Ages, Baroque art to Mozart’s era, and even to beings from an imaginary distant future.
