All-Female Mariachi Band: Mexican Innovation

From the heart of Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, a project was born that broke the mold and made history. On July 18, under the vision of founder Mayra Casillas and co-founder Margarita Gómez, Mariachi Femenil Innovación Mexicana was created—a group whose very name embodies its essence: innovation, talent, and Mexican pride. What began with five determined women passionate about traditional music has now become an unstoppable force. Currently, with 11 members, this mariachi group has conquered national and international stages, taking its original sound to new horizons. In addition to touring the entire country with their talent, they have undertaken international tours that have taken their music to new frontiers: three tours to Spain, two to the United States, and one to Guatemala. Their distinctive repertoire, featuring original songs that break with tradition, has earned them recognition as the most original mariachi group in the world. In 2019, they were honored with the “Galardón a la Mujer,” a nationally recognized award, and that same year they were invited to participate in the show “México tiene talento,” a competition broadcast on national television.
They were also the stars of the world’s first viral mariachi video, with their cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody”—a tribute to Queen that went viral around the globe, proving that mariachi can be as powerful as it is versatile.
In 2024, they reached another milestone: they were the all-female mariachi band chosen to represent all women at the historic inauguration of Mexico’s first female president.
Today, Innovación Mexicana is a mariachi group renowned for its quality and distinction.
