A Gala that pays tribute to José Miguel Gómez del Olmo, affectionately known as “El Peperrín,” a son of Torrevieja who deeply loved his town, demonstrating it in every note, every verse, and every smile. A man of humor, artistry, and heart, he actively participated in Torrevieja’s cultural life, standing out in murgas (a street dance group) and chirigotas (a group of chirigotas), where his wit led him to win numerous first prizes.
A tireless composer, he dedicated his life to creating songs and habaneras that today form part of the musical soul of Torrevieja: El Puñadico de Sal, No Soy Torreviejense, La Virgen del Carmen, Felicidades Inmaculadas, Homenaje a Ricardo Lafuente, Lloran las Caracolas, Magia, Gracias Mujer and many more, many of them inspired by his muse, his wife.
He led and founded iconic groups such as Noray, La Alegría, and the Brotherhood of the Virgen del Rocío, always carrying joy and a love of music as his banner.
It’s been a year since cancer took his presence from us, but his legacy lives on in the voices, the notes, and the hearts of Torrevieja. Today and always, we remember Peperrín with affection, gratitude, and eternal admiration.
