Great productions such as “ABBA: The New Experience”, “Sleeping Beauty”, the “Royal Film Concert Orchestra” and “The Nutcracker”; along with the comedies of Faemino y Cansado and Ángel Martín, the expected concert of Pastora Soler and other varied shows with local talent, make up the program of the September-December 2024 season of Cultura Torrevieja.
The councilman of Culture, Antonio Quesada and the coordinator of culture of the City of Torrevieja, Manuel Esteban Moreno, in collaboration with the team of Culture Torrevieja, presented this morning the Cultural Programming September-December 2024, a wide and varied offer that features concerts, impressive musical performances, theater, dance, children, comedy and more.
It has been a year where both the Municipal Theatre and the International Auditorium of Torrevieja have hosted, with more than 100 opening sessions between them, unforgettable stagings that have heard the applause of more than 60,000 attendees. And to culminate the year in style, are still expected more than 30 shows that promise to be an unforgettable experience for torrevejenses.
September
The cultural programming of the next quarter begins with the ninth edition of the film festival “Torrevieja Audiovisual”. It will also premiere the show for the whole family “Sleeping Beauty”, which will give a twist to the classic story, putting focus on memory, memories and cultural heritage. Then will be presented the 36th International Choral Meeting City of Torrevieja, which promises to be an outstanding event in the music scene, organized by the Coral Francisco Vallejos.
Later that same month, there will be the eagerly awaited comedy “El Sentido del Humor: Dos Tontos y Yo”, starring Florentino Fernández, José Mota and Santiago Segura, who will take the stage together for 90 minutes of laughter; not forgetting that a couple of hours before the show, “La Previa Gourmet” will be presented as a prelude to an exclusive cocktail dinner and wine pairing organized by Qtal Gourmet, which, together with the show, will make the evening an unforgettable memory.
To end September, the 17th anniversary of the Orfeón de Torrevieja will be celebrated with a tribute concert to its great conductor Mario Bustillo.
October
It will be a month full of events, starting with the International Day of Older Persons Gala, organized by the Department of Senior Citizens, followed a few days later by the comedy “Women: The Dramedy”, a fun theatrical show that promises to be a macro sleepover in the spirit of a TV show.
That same weekend, the acclaimed Pastora Soler will be presented in our city to celebrate her 30th anniversary of artistic career and will also be given the first session of the XXI Concert Campaign Musical Exchanges with performances by the Musical Society “La Paz” and Torrevejense Musical Union.
The following weekend, Ismael Lemais and La Kiskillosa will be back in our city with their new show “Madre Mía”, where they will talk about their new facet as parents. That same night, we will have in the Auditorium the show “ABBA: The New Experience”, one of the best international tributes to the legendary Swedish band; and the next day we will have the first concert of the season of the Symphony Orchestra of Torrevieja, with music from movies, series and video games.
Later that month, the renowned vocal group Sette Voci will announce their first album in a concert; the following night the play “Animales de Compañía” will be presented, which will question the value of friendship and sincerity; and also during those days we will have the impressive operas “Maria Callas: Sfogato” and the international hit “Tosca, by Puccini”.
October will conclude with the long-awaited comedy show by Faemino y Cansado, the concert by Shani Ormiston, and, to celebrate Halloween night at the Municipal Theater, the children’s musical “Juan Sin Miedo & la Casa Encantada”, which is about a young boy who has never felt fear.
November
The penultimate month of the year begins with the XVIII Flamenco Meeting organized by the Casa de Andalucía “Rafael Alberti”; continues with the concert for the 20th Anniversary of the Manuel Barberá Choral Group and we will also have a concert by the Youth Band of the Torrevejense Musical Union.
On the 16th will be the Coronation of the Queen of Salt 2024-2025 and days, to celebrate the patron saint of Santa Cecilia, we will have the various concerts of Los Salerosos, Torrevejense Musical Union and the Professional Conservatory Francisco Casanovas.
The month will conclude with a new concert of the Royal Film Concert Orchestra and the music of 100 years of cinema, also with the Diana Navarro show “De la Piquer a la Navarro” and finally, with the show for the whole family “Lily: A tale of Torrevieja”.
December
The last month of the season -and of the year- will start strong with the humor monologue by Ángel Martín about mental health; the Comic-Musical Magazine La Sal de Torrevieja will be presented a few days later and the Diego Ramírez Pastor Award will be presented in a special event.
The following week, Ars Creatio will present the entertaining comedy “Eloísa está debajo de un almendro” (Eloísa is under an almond tree) and also that week the Gala de Cultura will take place. A few days later, a new children’s show by the successful band Pica Pica and also a Christmas concert by the Los Salerosos Youth Band are expected.
Later on, the Christmas concert of the UMT Youth Band will be presented, as well as the wonderful show “The Nutcracker”, performed by the Barcelona Ballet.
The programming will reach its final shows with “Navidad Rociera”, organized by the Andalusian Cultural Association; followed by the play “Los Amigos de Ellos Dos” -which reflects on how we perceive the place we occupy in this society- and finally, the UMT’s Christmas concert “Broadway” will be presented.
