Pau Casals was forced into exile in the south of France after the Spanish Civil War. With all his resources and a lot of determination he dedicated himself to helping thousands of compatriots crowded in the nearby labor camps. In 1943, under Nazi occupation, the musical genius received a disturbing invitation to play before the Führer. Casals knew that refusing to do so could have terrible consequences.
