“The Doctor, the musical”, based on the bestseller by Noah Gordon, lands at the Municipal Theater of Torrevieja from Friday 25 to Sunday April 27. A musical produced by Dario Regattieri, executive producer of beon. Entertainment, who bet on our city to bring the award-winning musical.
It tells the story of little Rob J. Cole, whose life changes the day he becomes an orphan and discovers he has an unusual gift in his hands: he can predict death. Adopted as an apprentice by a barber surgeon, Rob travels through England discovering life, discipline and the curiosity to learn. At the age of nineteen, a Jewish doctor tells him about faraway Persia, where there is a medical school run by the best physician of the time: Avicenna. Rob then decides to go on an adventure, ready to cross half the world to become a doctor.
The musical features music and lyrics by Iván Macías and Félix Amador, and has been recognized for its ambitious staging and richness of detail. Iconic designer Lorenzo Caprile has designed the 490 costumes for the play, bringing a touch of authenticity and sophistication that promises to dazzle audiences.
The musical began its run in Madrid in October 2018 with two consecutive seasons exceeding 300,000 spectators. After the pandemic, it resumed its journey with a new production by beon. Entertainment. After passing through Barcelona, Seville and El Ejido, it will now arrive in Torrevieja.
The original staging of “El Médico, el musical” is by Ignasi Vidal and the artistic direction is by Sebastián Prada. The creative team is complemented by Marietta Calderón as costume director; María José Santos as vocal director and artistic supervisor; Felipe Ramos as lighting designer; Pablo Santos as technical director; Amaya Galeote as choreographic director; Martí Costa as musical director; Josep Simón and Eduardo Díaz as set design and Alejandro Martín as sound director.

This new version of the musical presents a luxury cast, led by Fede Salles as the protagonist playing the role of Rob J. Cole. Alba Cuartero will play the role of Mary; Joseán Moreno as Barber; Paco Arrojo will play the Shah ; Sergi Albert will be Avicenna and cover Barber; Beatriz de Teresa in the role of Rob child; Fernando Samper as Merlin-Qandrasseh and cover Avicenna; Laureano Ramírez in the role of Mirdim; Adrián de Vicente as Karim and cover of Rob ; María Jaraíz in the role of Agnes; Miguel Ferrer, as Fritta and cover of Sha; Jordi Gràcia is Mary-Vicerrector’s father and cover Avicenna and Franc de luna as Meir and cover of Rob J. Coley Sha. The cast includes Pedro da Costa, Gisela Villamayor, Leyre Aranda, Cristina Salvador and Carmen Yagüe. And as swings will have Imanol Fuentes, Pedro Estrada, Esther Santaella and Berta Butinyà.
