Torrevieja prepares to receive one of the most iconic musicals in history: The Phantom of the Opera. After its great success in Madrid and having captivated more than 160 million spectators in 21 languages in 195 cities around the world, this show begins its long-awaited tour of Spain and will make a stop at the Torrevieja Municipal Theater on June 6, 7 and 8.
This is a milestone in the history of the emblematic musical, as it is the first time that the Phantom has toured in Spanish and the first time that it will tour the Spanish geography after two seasons of resounding success with critics and audiences, an unprecedented tour for a show of this size. A story of passion, mystery and obsession
The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a tormented and mysterious masked character who inhabits the Paris Opera House and imposes his will by terrorizing the owners of the theater and its actors. But then, this character falls madly in love with a young soprano, Christine Daaé, and devotes himself to cultivating her extraordinary talents, employing all the devious methods at his disposal. The story takes dark and tragic turns, combining elements of romance, jealousy and redemption in an unforgettable visual and sonic spectacle.

The piece, by Andrew Lloyd Webberis considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular musicals in history. It is directed by Federico Bellone and musically directed by Julio Awad (also winner of the Talía Award 2024 for this version), picks up the baton of a production that has captivated the whole world since its premiere in 1986 in London’s West End. Silvia Montesinos is the resident director and responsible for the adaptation of the lyrics. The costumes, by Chiara Donato, received the Broadway World Spain Audience Award in its last edition.
After its premiere at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End on October 9, 1986 and on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre on January 26, 1988, The Phantom of the Opera has won more than 70 major theatrical awards. On January 9, 2006, The Phantom of the Opera became the longest running show in Broadway history, surpassing Cats by reaching 7486 performances.
