This Saturday the International Auditorium hosts the first Gala of the Culture of Torrevieja.

The creativity and talent of the city will come together in this exciting gala presented by Luis Larrodera and named “El Almacén de la Artes”; it will be a tribute to the work and dedication of the municipal art schools.

Next Saturday, January 11 at 20:00 pm in the International Auditorium of Torrevieja, will be held the first Gala of Culture, an annual event that pays tribute to the effort, creativity and dedication of students, teachers and artists of municipal art schools in the city. The evening will be hosted by renowned radio and television presenter Luis Larrodera, who will bring his charisma and talent to the stage that night.

During the event, which is called “El Almacén de las Artes” and is organized by the Department of Culture, special mentions will be awarded to some of the most outstanding students of the 2023-2024 academic year, in recognition of their commitment and outstanding performance.

In addition, in the hall of the Auditorium there will be an exhibition of the Municipal School of Painting and also the Municipal School of Crafts Salinera.

The Protagonists

The city’s municipal art schools, which currently have a combined enrollment of nearly 1,100 students, will be present at this event to showcase the impact of their work.

The Municipal School of Crafts Salinera, created on November 8, 2021 by the City of Torrevieja together with the Municipal Institute of Culture Joaquin Chapaprieta, is the only one in the world dedicated to preserving a unique craft in danger of disappearing. This course has 38 students divided into six groups, who learn to build model ships and the process of curdling in the pink lagoon.

The Municipal Tai-Chi School, founded in 2008 and resumed in 2021 after a six-year hiatus, promotes balance and harmony through this ancient discipline, with an annual average of 130 students.

The Municipal School of Photography promotes the art of capturing unique moments and teaches its students to master the visual language.

The Municipal School of Oriental Dance, established in 2007, began with weekend workshops and today hosts 100 enrollments per course, offering a solid platform to explore the beauty and rhythm of this ancient dance.

The Escuela Municipal de Danza Académica, founded in 1985, stands out for its teaching of classical and contemporary dance, transmitting technique and passion to its students.

The Municipal School of Painting, created in 1989, welcomes every year about 250 students of all ages, promoting creativity and artistic expression through their works.

The Municipal Choir School, founded in 2002, enriches the gala with its interpretation of choral singing, uniting voices that transmit emotion and beauty.

The Escuela de Cuerda Pulsada has its roots in the 1980s under the direction of Cecilio Gallego. In 2007 it acquired the status of municipal school and, after a cessation of activities, resumed its work in 2022 with Adrián Vallejos as director. It currently has 25 students, keeping alive the tradition of plucked string instruments.

The Professional Conservatory “Maestro Casanovas”, founded in 1984, is a cultural and educational reference. Located in the heart of Torrevieja, it has 270 students enrolled in Elementary and Professional Education in various instrumental specialties.

The Municipal Theater School “Raúl Ferrández”, founded in 1995, currently has 70 students and stands out for its work in the development of stage talent, bringing to the public performances full of creativity and passion.

The Gala de la Cultura 2024 promises to be an unforgettable evening celebrating the cultural and educational diversity of our municipality, highlighting the fundamental role of our municipal schools in enriching the community.
