The stage of the Municipal Theater of Torrevieja is transformed into Cantabreda<\/strong>, a fictional town in northern Spain where love, smuggling and betrayal are intertwined in “La Tabernera del Puerto”,<\/strong> a zarzuela full of emotion, tension and musical beauty that will premiere on Sunday, April 6 at 7:00 pm.<\/p>\n\n

Produced by Compa\u00f1\u00eda L\u00edrica Alicantina, it takes place in a simple tavern by the estuary, and tells the story of Marola and her father, Juan de Egu\u00eda<\/strong>, who hide a dark secret. Marola’s beauty has captivated the sailors of the port, but everyone is unaware of the true relationship between the two. Juan de Egu\u00eda is not only her father, but also a smuggler<\/strong>, who sees in the attraction of men to his daughter an opportunity to continue his illicit business. <\/p>\n\n

The story takes a turn when Juan de Egu\u00eda convinces Leandro, a young sailor<\/strong>, to recover a shipment of drugs hidden in some caves, promising him Marola’s hand in exchange. A storm at sea puts their lives at risk, but when they are rescued, the truth comes to light and the fate of each character is resolved in a shocking climax where love and justice prevail. <\/p>\n\n
