The Musical Society Ciudad de Torrevieja has held this month the International Band Festival, a meeting of different national and international bands that meet in Torrevieja. We have lived a very intense week, but we have enjoyed the best concerts given by the musicians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As is tradition in Torrevieja the parade has never failed in those 5 days, the band meets at City Hall and perform the tour with their music to the theater. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening Gala was initiated by the hosts “Los Salerosos”, directed by Daniel Clemente Espinosa. The band offered a magnificent performance with a varied and entertaining program. The audience applauded so much that the band responded by playing some songs of the eternal Nino Bravo on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death. As a second gift to the applause of the public they offered the pasodoble “Goya” by Juli\u00e1n Palanca, which they have dedicated to the baby of the band director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the second evening was dedicated to the youth groups, the Cabezo de Torres Youth Band with its director Lorenzo Caravaca and the Youth Band S.M. Ciudad de Torrevieja “Los Salerosos”, as already implemented last year in this festival. That day they wanted to give the opportunity to future members of the bands and give more visibility to these excellent young musicians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the third evening, the Musical Group of the Arma Nazionale de Carabinieri of Rome, its musical director Sergio Belardi in his program wanted to pay homage to the best Italian conductor and composer, the maestro Ennio Morricone with his repertoire. On that day the soloist singer “Giulia Spandoni” and the pianist “Laura Parretti” participated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fourth evening was attended by the Municipal Band of Music of Torrej\u00f3n de Ardoz with its director Julio Maroto, within their repertoire they played various musical styles such as pasodoble, danz\u00f3n and arrangements of movie soundtracks such as “West Side Story”, “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Abba Gold”. In this concert as a surprise was the mezzo-soprano singer “Monica Redondo Garcia” who sang some songs within the program that left the audience very impressed. Throughout the room you could hear the applause of all attendees who did not want the evening to end, then to finish the act the band did an encore with the song “A qui\u00e9n le importa” that the audience happily sang. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To end this magnificent International Band Festival was closed by the band U.M. of the High Availability Terrestrial Headquarters<\/a> directed by Armando Bernab\u00e9u Lorenzo from Torrevieja. In the first part of the concert the public could enjoy the impressive composition of the conductor, then he continued with the soundtrack of the movie “Saving Private Ryan” and to finish this first part with a symphonic poem.   At the intermission of the concert we could see a very emotional ceremony, the deputy mayor “Sandra Sanchez” gave the band director a picture with the poster of the Festival and the Metopa of “Los Salerosos”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second part of the program, once the act was over, the audience rose from their seats and deafening applause could be heard in the hall. The band responded to the audience with an encore with “Las corsarias”. To end this gala they played the “Hymns of Torrevieja, Valencian Community and Spain”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we can see this week we have lived very happy, exciting and emotional moments. Each day that passed we were more and more surprised by the bands with their guests, apart from that the repertoire they have chosen has surprised all of us who were present. We would like to congratulate all the musicians for their hard and excellent work in preparing all the works so carefully and lovingly that we enjoyed so much. We will be looking forward to the next Festival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
