DESCRIPTION:Opera 2001 and the Sicilian Lyric Choir\, in a co-production with the Massy Opera (Paris)\, present The Troubadour\, an opera by Verdi. \nIt is a romantic drama full of passion\, revenge and tragedy. Premiered in 1853\, it is based on the play El trovador by Antonio García Gutiérrez. The story takes place in 15th century Spain\, in the context of the war between Aragón and Vizcaya\, and combines themes of forbidden love\, family rivalries and dark secrets.   \nThe story is about a gypsy woman burned at the stake\, which is the beginning of a terrible revenge. Accused of bewitching the youngest son of the old Count of Luna\, she is condemned and devoured by the flames despite her innocence.  \nIn his agony he asks for revenge to his daughter Azucena who kidnaps the second son of the Count of Luna\, named Manrico\, to burn him alive. Because of his alienation\, instead of throwing the child\, by mistake\, it is his own son who ends up at the stake.  \nManrico is raised since then as Azucena’s son. Years later the Count of Luna\, son of the old Count of Luna and brother of Manrico\, the kidnapped child\, obsessively loves Leonora\, lady-in-waiting of the princess of Aragon\, with little fortune because she is in love with Manrico.  \nA fatal rivalry develops between the two that will have to be resolved by death. Only in this way will the gypsy woman fulfill her revenge.

González and with music by Jorge Cruz Toledo\, explores the intimate world of four girls who face the adventures\, dilemmas and emotions of adolescence in the nineties\, when social networks did not exist and love was experienced face to face. \nThe protagonists of Quelis are four inseparable friends: Susana\, Reme\, Clares and María. In a town where “not even trains pass” and days seem the same\, the girls support each other\, argue\, make up\, go out and drink together. Their friendship becomes their refuge as they try to understand love and themselves\, at a time when everything seems about to change.   \nQuelis combines acting\, music and dance to transport the audience to the youth of Torrevieja at the end of the last century\, a time when every shared moment was genuine. The play features 22 original songs that represent the emotions and experiences of the characters\, composed by Jorge Cruz Toledo and with lyrics by Carlos R. Countless articles and books have been written about her\, films and documentaries have been made about her\, and yet her mystery continues to fascinate. She was everything in art and lost it through love and heartbreak. Passion was her driving force: passion for art\, passion for love.    \n\n\nWith the only company of Bruna\, her housekeeper and perhaps the person who was closest to her intimacy\, Maria reveals some of her secrets\, those that filled her with life and those that led her to a tragic death at the young age of 53. \n\n100 years of Callas. \nCallas\, of Greek descent\, was born in New York on December 2\, 1923 and died\, a little more than two months before her 54th birthday\, in Paris on September 16\, 1977\, officially of a heart attack\, although some say she committed suicide by ingesting a lethal amount of tranquilizers; it seems that in 1970 she tried to take her own life with barbiturates. \nThe action of the play\, which is as much a farewell as an emotional and moving evocation\, takes place on that last day. The soprano\, in the company of Bruna\, her housekeeper and the person closest to her\, is locked in her Parisian residence\, while in the street the journalists crowd to try to catch a glimpse of her presence. In this aimless and perhaps hopeless waiting\, Maria\, exhausted and very low in spirit\, reviews some moments of her life\, her beginnings\, her marriage to Giovanni Battista Meneghini\, her passion for the ominous Aristotle Onassis\, who perhaps only wanted to exhibit her as a trophy in his record of alpha male\, her disappointments\, her performances with Giuseppe di Stefano\, the tenor with whom she sang the most…   \nMaria Callas\, her name makes vibrate in our ears and in our hearts the sound of a unique and privileged voice that earned her the name of “La Divina”.

DESCRIPTION:The history of this show is quite interesting\, and we tell you about it: \n\n\nAfter the first evening of a not very definite success of LA BOHEME\, on February 1\, 1896\, this opera conquered with astonishing rapidity the ear and the heart of half of Europe and other parts of the world. Puccini’s worldwide success that began in 1893 with Manon Lescaut had a brilliant take-off.  \n\n\nOn November 24\, 1887\, TOSCA had its premiere in Paris: A new drama by Victorien SARDOU\, one of the most famous French playwrights of that time with brilliant theatrical instincts. Sardo wrote this role to be played by France’s greatest dramatic actress\, Sarah BERNHARD. Puccini saw the drama in 1889\, in Milan\, and despite his poor command of the French language\, he was fascinated. The great actress with her gestures and the diversity of her features fully expresses the intrigue of the work and is able to captivate only through the visible dramatism and thanks to her great mastery even when not a single word is understood.    \n\n\nHe leaves the theater seduced and hurries to telegraph his publisher RICORDI: “I intend to set Tosca to music. I beg you to take the necessary steps at once to obtain SARDOU’s authorization…” But SARDOU does not want to hear about turning his drama into an opera and rejects the proposal. TOSCA is forgotten.  \n\n\nSome years later another Italian composer -Alberto FRANCHETTI- gets SARDOU’s permission and begins to write the music for TOSCA. PUCCINI’s interest in the spectacular story of the Roman singer of the Napoleonic era is reborn. PUCCINI’s renown far outweighs that of his opponent and without much difficulty he recovers the libretto. The long work of rewriting the text begins. PUCCINI relies on the collaboration of the librettist Luigi ILLICA and the prominent poet Guiseppe GIACOSA.     \n\n\nThe author is allowed to believe that his word carries weight. RICORDI is a mediator. PUCCINI intervenes constantly demanding changes\, cuts\, additions. He meets several times with SARDOU to obtain important modifications: “Prodigious man. He is almost 70 years old and is more full of vigor and agility than a young man. He is an indefatigable talker with whom a conversation quickly turns into a monologue… He ended up giving in to everything I asked of him…” SARDOU is enthusiastic about the way ILLICA and GIACOSA carry out the adaptation of his TOSCA. The combination of the names SARDOU and PUCCINI promises a worldwide triumph.     \n\n\nThe draft of the libretto of TOSCA is completed at the end of 1896\, but only in 1898\, on his return to Italy\, PUCCINI devotes all his energies to the composition of the new opera and on August 18 he completes the first act. On July 16\, 1899 PUCCINI finishes the second act and on September 29 the third\, thus concluding the opera TOSCA.  \n\n\nOn October 14\, 1900\, the premiere of TOSCA is held at the Teatro Constanzi in ROME. It is rumored that an artifact will explode during the performance. The political situation makes this possibility credible. The alarm causes the theater to be evacuated. Finally everything is restored and the play is performed. It is a great success; it will be the same all over the world.      \n\n\n“Tosca” is a tragic opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini that tells the gripping story of singer Floria Tosca\, her lover Mario Cavaradossi\, and the evil police chief\, Baron Scarpia. Set in Rome during the Napoleonic Wars\, the plot unfolds as Tosca is caught in a web of political and personal intrigue\, facing difficult decisions as she tries to protect her beloved Mario and save him from Scarpia’s clutches. The opera is an intense mix of love\, betrayal\, and sacrifice\, with a dramatic denouement that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.
